Polydesmus angustus


This is the most frequently seen of the flat backed group of millipedes. It is up to 25 mm long and 4 mm wide, and has about 20 segments. It is a dark brown animal with heavy mottlingand sculpturing on it's back. Although normally feeding on dead leaves and other rotting material. it is fond of strawberries and can sometimes be found nestling in little chambers hollowed out of the fruits which it has nibbled. It is also said that this species also likes Lupin roots.
